Weight Loss

Obesity is one of the biggest health issues facing our country, and everyone knows, even the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Medical Association (AMA) that we have to decrease the prevalence of obesity in order to combat predominantly lifestyle related diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Do you know what the number one killer of Americans is? Cardiovascular disease, which is absolutely tied to carrying too much weight on your body.

Look at the chart below, and determine your Body Mass Index, or BMI.

For example, if you are 5’4”and 150 lbs, you are in the overweight category. If you are 6’ tall and 150 lbs, you are in the normal range. This isn’t a perfect assessment, but if you aren’t a professional athlete or body builder, it most likely applies to you.

According to the National Institutes for Health, more than 1/3 of adults are considered to be obese, and more than 1 in 20 Americans has extreme obesity. Almost 75% of Americans are either overweight or obese. Something has to be done!!

Did you know that 95% of diets fail? And people end up gaining back more weight than they lost in the first place? This is because weight loss is much more complicated than just calories in (diet) and calories out (exercise). There are many more factors that come into play.

For example, if you were to put on a lot of weight, where would you carry it?

An imbalance of different hormones causes you to distribute your weight differently. At Medela Centers, we apply a complex and comprehensive plan to help you determine the best diet plan, exercise plan, detoxification process and we check your hormones so we can help to bring them into balance and help you lose weight quickly, and be able to keep it off because we have addressed the underlying problem.
